Doyle Maurice Hancock

Doyle Maurice Hancock, age 84, of Amity, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

He was born on October 8, 1940, in Amity. He was the son of Doyle Hancock and Anita Wheeler Hancock. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Paulette Owens; and his brother, Robbie Hancock. 

Maurice was a man of Methodist faith with a passion for old cars, enjoyed hunting with his friends and family at the Deer camp, and going to auctions. He was known for his down-to-earth nature, kindness, independence, and love for his family and friends. Throughout his career, he worked as an Accountant, Shops Manager at Bean Lumber Company, and also served as Treasurer for the City of Amity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is survived by his sister, Dana (Jim) Ferguson, and his nieces and nephews: Jessica (Jared) Bilbo, Alesha (Ben) Miller, Michael (Julia) Hancock, Leslie Hancock, Dorinda (Keith) Thomas, Brad (Jennifer) Hancock, Janet (Darren) Taylor, Katrina (Dan) Thorson, Deric (Dana) Owens, Devin (Diane) Owens, Kevin (Reshea) Owens, and James (Kandy) Owens. He also leaves behind many loving great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of wonderful friends.

Pallbearers will be Deric Owens, Devin Owens, Kevin Owens, James Owens, Michael Hancock, Dan Thorson, Jim Ferguson, and Anthony Holcomb. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bradley Hancock, Darren Taylor, and the A2 Deer Camp.

With Maurice's love of cars, in his honor, we are pulling a few antique cars together and following the hearse from the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood to Jones Cemetery in Amity. Would love it if you could join us. (Weather permitting)

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood with Bro. James Owens officiating.

Interment will be held at Jones Cemetery.
