Listen to Obituary

Dr. Karen Patrice Pickett, aged 71, died October 4, 2026 in Little Rock, after a brief illness. She was born on December 22, 1954 in Pochahontas, Arkansas, to Joseph Elbridge and Verlene Burns Pickets. She was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Gary Joseph Pickett.

Karen graduated from Black Rock High School in 1973 as a class valedictorian. She earned degrees from Williams Baptist College, Arkansas State University, University of Arkansas and The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine.

Karen's professional life began as a physical therapist for the Little Rock Public School District, and following graduation from medical school, she was a Family Practice Physician in Little Rock for over 30 years.

Karen married Steve Case on June 24, 2000. Their love for horses and rural life led them to establish their home on a farm in Paron, Arkansas, where they enjoyed horseback riding and tending their numerous animals, including dogs, cats, goats, burros, chickens and ducks. Their home was the site of many special occasions involving both friends and family.

Karen's greatest love was for her Lord. She and Steve shared this love faithfully while attending Hebron Baptist Church in Little Rock. Karen's departure from this life was unexpected, yet she had been preparing for this departure since she was a child and made her profession of faith at Calvary Baptist Church in West Memphis.

Karen shared her love of music by participating in family singing and at church, where she was frequently a soloist and played the piano.

Those left to mourn her passing are husband, Steve Case, stepson John Case and wife Jamie, stepson Michael Broyles and wife Amber, grandchildren Paige, Morgan and Oliver Case and Korbyn and Amrea Broyles, also her mother, Verlene Pickett, sister Sheri Midkiff and husband David, sister-in-law Norma Pickett, never Joseph Midkiff and wife Amanda, nephew Josh Pickett, and great niece Clementine Midkiff.

Karen will be missed greatly by family and friends. She was known for her laughter, mischievous personality, and delightful sense of humor. She lived intensely, loved well, and died knowing she was ready to meet her Heavenly Father.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Hebron Baptist Church Building Fund.
