Dr. Paul L. Raines, age 83, of Norman, died Sunday, December 2, 2012. He was born on October 2, 1929 at Caddo Gap, the son of Christopher Leslie Raines and Ira Wilson Raines. A 1947 graduate of Norman High School, he attended Southern State College, Henderson State Teachers College and received his doctorate in science from the University of Arkansas. While working on his doctorate, he taught at the University of Arkansas. He later served as a professor at Ouachita Baptist University and Arkansas State University where he retired. He was a member of the Norman First Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Steve Boyce of Cave City; his son, Chris Raines of Glenwood; two grandsons, Jason Boyce and Ben Boyce; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Doug Dumont of Norman; his nephew, James Dumont of Glenwood; and his niece, Leslie Coopman of Norman. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 5, 2012 in the Norman First Baptist Church with Bro. Robbie Loudermilk and Bro. Rick Cowart officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment with military honors will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff and residents of Montgomery County Assisted Living, Norman First Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class, L. Z. Watson, Gene Glazener and W. M. "Dub" Rowland.
