Dr. Paul James Misischia, born on February 12, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on December 11, 2025. A dedicated educator and medical practitioner, Paul left an indelible mark on the lives he touched throughout his career as an ophthalmologist.

Paul attended John Carroll University before advancing his medical education at Kansas City Osteopathic Medicine. From 1978 until 2006, he instilled knowledge and compassion in his students at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. During those same years, he had a private practice along side working at Philadelphia College.  His commitment to the field continued as he practiced at McFarland Eye Care in Bryant, Hot Springs, Pine Bluff, and Little Rock, Arkansas from 2006 to 2020, where he served his patients with kindness and expertise.  Dr. Misischia was so loved by his patients for his extra patience and care.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Paul enjoyed a rich tapestry of hobbies that included fishing, solving crossword puzzles, and cooking. He had a profound fascination with Egyptian history and artifacts and maintained a keen interest in geology. These passions colored his life and allowed him to share joyful moments with friends and family.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sharon Kay Misischia of Benton, Arkansas, who was his steadfast partner in life. He is also survived by their three children: Lesa Olmedo Witt and her husband Kurtis of Kearney, MO, Devon Bledsoe and her husband John of Bryant, Arkansas, and Jon Paul Misischia of Bryant, Arkansas. Paul was a proud grandfather to Isabel Lara Fowler and her husband Matthew, Leah Witt Busch and her husband Zak, and Ryan Bledsoe; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Frederic "Duffy" Misischia, and a host of family members and friends who love him dearly and will miss him always.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Nicholas Misischia and Margaret (Skulina) Misischia; his brother, Richard "Dick" Misischia; and his sister, Majorie Mills. His legacy of dedication to family, education, and patient care will continue to inspire those who knew him.
