Earline "Grandy" Melton

Earline “Grandy” Melton, age 88, of Little Rock, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023.

She was born on August 29, 1935, in St. Clair, Missouri, the son of Jasper Hopkins and Jennie James Hopkins.  She was preceded in death by her husband in 2019, Dr. Roy Melton; her parents; and one daughter, Stacee Roberson. 

Earline was a Christian and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Little Rock.  While raising her children she went back to college and received a degree in Business Administration in 1972.  After receiving her degree, she then taught business classes at Pulaski Academy for 20 years and later managed the office at Little Rock Eye Clinic. 

Although she had a career her family meant the world to her.  She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, family and the grandchildren.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend who made everyone feel special.  Although she may no longer be physically present, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chris Melton, Sr. and Sheryl; her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly Forehand and Michael of Conway; nine grandchildren, Chris Melton, Jr., Samuel Melton, Joseph Forehand, Jacob Forehand, John Forehand, Audrey Roberson Helker, Hudson Roberson, Taylor McNaught, and Ryan Edmonds; one great-grandchild, Davis Forehand; extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Graveside services will be 11:00AM, Thursday, October 5, 2023, in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Alexander, under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
