Eddith Lindsey

Eddith Lindsey, 91, of Sherwood died August 15, 2016, at home with family. Born Eddith Isabel Rose March 24, 1925, near Pocahontas, Arkansas, to Edd and Ruth Rose, she was the second of eight children and the oldest girl. She grew up a country kid riding in a wagon, walking to school, and helping with younger siblings as she grew.
She met a young soldier, Charles Ray Lindsey, home on leave one Saturday afternoon and liked him so well she stood up a date to go out with him that night. They married in March 1946 upon his discharge from the Army and moved first to Little Rock, later to North Little Rock, then Sherwood. Born to their union were two children, Donna, and Allen, who was killed in an accident as a teenager.
Eddith was a homemaker and mother. She loved and supported her children in everything they did, extended that love and support to her two grandchildren, and was doing the same for four great-granddaughters. It was her calling and her joy, and she did it well.
She was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene in Little Rock for over 60 years where she taught Sunday School, worked in children's and youth ministries, and sang on the radio when the church operated a radio station. She loved and supported her church.
Predeceased by her husband and son, Eddith is survived by daughter Donna McKnight (Joe), and grandchildren Lisa Seibel (Gary) and David Brown (Jenni), as well as great-granddaughters, Isabella and Olivia Seibel and twins Jalynn and Jordan Brown. She is also survived by siblings Leondus Rose; Ray Neal (Wanda) Rose; Marzell (Curt) Carmikle; Bea Rowden; Charles Rose; Vernon (Carol) Rose, and Larry Don (Frances) Rose, numerous nieces and nephews, and two special friends, Laverne Jones and Dottie Ligman Lanham.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20th at First Church of the Nazarene of Little Rock with visitation one hour prior service. Burial will follow at Arkansas Memorial Gardens.
