Edith Lenora Mathis, 74, of Benton, Arkansas passed away January 15, 2017. She was born June 9, 1942 in Marshall, Arkansas to Osher D. Blackwood and the late Evelyn Wadkins Blackwood.
Edith was preceded in death by her mother; sister, Barbara G. Jackson; and nephew, Ricky Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband of over fifty-six years, Bill Mathis of Benton, Arkansas; three sons, Billy Mathis, Jr. and wife Melissa of Benton, Arkansas, Stacy S. Mathis of Benton, Arkansas, and Shawn C. Mathis and wife Jamie of Benton, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; father, Osher D. Blackwood of Marshall, Arkansas; two sisters, Jo Campbell of Benton, Arkansas and Wanda Archer and husband Ted of Texas; brother, Michael Jackson and wife Alicia of Whitehouse, Tennessee; and many more family members and friends who loved Edith and will miss her always.
Reception visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas 72015. Graveside service, officiated by Rev. Mike Tittsworth, will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Pinecrest Memorial Park with Jackson Campbell, Keith Campbell, Randy Campbell, and Steve Campbell assisting as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jay Jackson, Shane Jackson, and Michael Jackson, Jr.
