Edna Wood Powell age 85 of Texas City, TX formerly of Arkadelphia, AR, died Thursday, May 29, 2008 in Texas City. She was born July 8, 1922 in Clark County the daughter of Edgar and Ellie Jones Wood.She was a retired cosmetologist having served as President of the Arkansas State Board of Cosmetology. She and her late husband Clinton Powell also ranched and farmed in Clark County for many years and were members of the Shiloh Baptist Church.
Survivors are one son, Greig Powell and his wife Jimmie of San Leon, TX, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, June 5 in the Shiloh Cemetery with Rev. James Calhoun officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday evening in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
