Eleanor Faye Davis, 83, passed away August 3, 2023. Eleanor was born July 10, 1940 to the late Alexander C. Carr and Essie J Carr.

 

Eleanor graduated from Emmett Scott High School before obtaining her Bachelor’s degree from Prairie View A&M University and later her Masters in Education from University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She was employed through the Little Rock School District from 1975 – 2007 working at Horace Mann High School, Western Hills Elementary School and Wilson Elementary School. Since 1970, Eleanor was a faithful member of St. Mark Baptist Church. She was a talented member of the Angelic and Sanctuary Choir. Eleanor and her husband, Coy created the Youth Department, the Wednesday night Children’s Bible Study, as well as the Youth Choir at St. Mark’s.

Eleanor later went on to create and lovingly lead the Golden Saints for over 15 years at St. Mark Baptist Church. Throughout her time at St. Mark’s, she was always willing to assist in any department or committee that needed her help. Eleanor was a selfless servant always willing to follow wherever God led her.

 

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Elaine Carr Claybon.

 

 

Eleanor is survived by her loving husband, Coy O. Davis; children: Ricardo C. Davis (Sheila), Ronaldo A. Davis (Delois), Regina F. Davis Howse (Curtis) and Reginald N. Davis (Jessica); grandchildren: Thomas McIntosh, Jonathan Southall (Shaniqua), Jordan Davis, Cydney Davis, Caris Davis, Rebekah Davis, Micaiah Davis (Christine) and Hadassah Davis; great-grandchildren, Jayden Southall and Neziah Davis; nephew,

Alex Claybon (Sandra); great-nephew, Alexander Claybon; as well as a host of other family members and friends who will all miss her dearly.
