Elizabeth Fay Whisenhunt, age 74, of Delight, AR, left her earthly home for her heavenly home on September 11, 2026. She was born on June 29, 1952, in Delight, AR. Fay was the daughter of Hollis “Smokey” Hutcherson and Mable Stevens Hutcherson Avery. She was preceded in death by her parents and her only grandson, Brandon Lee Melugin.
On June 5, 1970, she married the love of her life, Larry Whisenhunt. Together they built a life of happiness, drove each other crazy most days, and occasionally would take a trip to Branson when she could talk him into it. Their 56 years of marriage taught their children and grandchildren that marriages could last when you love each other unconditionally and always put God first.
Fay was a faithful member of Salem Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, where she currently served as the assistant church clerk. Over the years, she had served as a Sunday School Teacher, Church Clerk, and the piano player.
Fay’s favorite place to be was in her kitchen cooking. Her granddaughters always told her, “Granny, you’re the best cooker!” Nothing made her happier than to see people enjoying what she had cooked; you never left her kitchen with an empty stomach.
Fay enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel Music and going with her grandkids to get her toenails done at the salon. She was a people person. While working at Allgood’s One Stop, she became friends with many in the community. She especially liked her group of loggers that came in daily. She enjoyed hearing their stories and filling their bellies with breakfast. She also enjoyed going on trips, whether it be to the beach with her children or with her group of special ladies; she liked to see and explore new things.
Fay loved God and her family. She always tried to live her life so that others could see Jesus in her. Her family was the most important earthly possession that she had and there was never a day that her family ever doubted her love for them.
She is survived by her husband, Larry. Her children, Crystal and Earl Melugin of Caddo Valley, AR, and Carol and Eugene Hill of Delight, AR. Her granddaughters, Shelby and Jayme Melugin of Caddo Valley, AR, Landen Hill of Hot Springs, and her fiancé Daniel and Chloe Hill of Delight, AR. Her brother, Cletius Hutcherson of Delight, AR; her sisters, Frances Alexander of Arkadelphia, AR, Lola and Paul Lane, Sue Maxwell, and Belle and Mike Lamb, all of Delight, AR, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Chad Lamb, Tyler Tomlinson, William Wilson, Todd Ray, Daniel Icenhower, and Justin Reid.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.
