Ellen Martin Ohls Bobo, a longtime resident of Arkadelphia, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at her home in Troy, Ala., after a long illness.

Ellen was born Aug. 24, 1939, to Moritz Alexander and Boulware Martin Ohls. She graduated from Arkadelphia Senior High School, and received her bachelor of science in education and masters of science in education degrees from Henderson State University.
Ellen taught kindergarten and first grade over her 40-year teaching career. She taught in the Memphis School District and worked until retirement at Oaklawn Elementary School in Hot Springs.
Ellen loved good books, good food, and socializing with her friends and family. She also enjoyed going to plays and musicals, and had a witty, dry sense of humor. Ellen was active in the Arkadelphia Philharmonic Club, Colerean Club, Retired Teachers Association, Woman's Library Association and the Clark County Historical Association. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia.

She is survived by son, John Timothy Bobo; stepson, Chris Bobo; stepdaughter, Melissa Bobo; and six grandchildren that brought great joy to her in later years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Buddy Bobo.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join Ellen's family at a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia on Thursday, Dec. 27th, at 10 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the Clark County Library.
