Elva Jean Shinn, of North Little Rock, was born on August 25, 1926, in Wister, Oklahoma, to Hubert and Myrtle Wright. She departed this life on September 10, 2025, in Sherwood.
Jean worked for many years as a hostess at The Gar Hole and The Gaslight Club in Little Rock. After leaving The Gaslight Club, she worked as a manicurist in the Tower Building, and later spent the final years of her career as a hostess and cashier at Sir Loins Inn in North Little Rock.
She was a longtime member of Levy Baptist Church and a faithful Christian.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rudy Shinn; her parents, Myrtle and Hubert Wright; and her brothers, Don Wright and Edward Wright.
She is survived by her sister, Vera Russell; her niece, Karen Finch (Keith); her nephews, Mark Wright (Kathy) and Jon Scott Wright (Paige); her great-niece, Natalie McRae (Justin); and her great-great-niece, Lyla McRae. She especially cherished visits with Lyla and was always so proud to share her photos.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM, Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander.
Jean will be remembered for her devotion to family and her steadfast faith. She touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
