Emma EllaMae (Burgess) Meriweather, born February 27, 1915 at Ward, Arkansas, passed from this life April 5, 2009, at 9:45 a.m. at her home near Carlisle, Arkansas, with family by her side. She was a member of Carlisle Church of Christ and formerly of McRae. Emma was the matriarch of this Meriweather family. She had a great love for family and friends. Her passion was God and the flowers He allowed her to grow and help beautify His world.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, Henry Vernon Meriweather; two sons, Charles Thomas and Lloyd Henry Meriweather, both of Garner; four grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She is survived by three sons, Johnny and Wanda Meriweather of Conway, Roy and Peggy Meriweather of Lonoke, Troy and Sandra Meriweather of Carlisle; two daughters, Laura M. Aaron and Betty L. McNeill, both of Carlisle; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and eighteen great-great-grandchildren.
