Erma Crump, age 85, of Kirby, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018. She was born on June 17, 1932 in Kirby, the daughter of Arvil Golden and Winnie Babbitt Golden. On April 10, 1952, she was married to Clay King Crump, II who preceded her in death on August 20, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sarah Crump; her parents; and her sister, Jean Turner. She was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Along with her husband, Clay, she owned and operated Bear Creek Landing which would move in 1955 to Kirby Landing. The people who came to the marina became like family and would be life-long friends. An avid gardener, she loved to grow vegetables, especially tomatoes, which you might have purchased at the local supermarket. It was said that she really valued good dirt. She also enjoyed her flowers and taking long walks. She is survived by three children, Anne Butcher and Clay K. "Budgie" Crump, III, both of Kirby and Steve Crump of Little Rock; five grandchildren, David Butcher, Candice Castillo, Jessica Sirmon, Laken Crump and Leland Crump; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob Golden and Bill Golden, both of Kirby; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 26, 2018, in the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with Bob Golden and Bill Golden officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
