Erma Lee Griffith

Erma Lee Griffith, age 91, of Kirby, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. She was born on December 26, 1924, in Newhope, the daughter of Ezra Arnold Funderburk and Fannie Jane Simmons Funderburk. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William LeRoy Moody; her second husband, Irving Griffith; her parents; two sisters, Mildred Wiley and Murel Carr; and one brother, Jimmy Funderburk. She attended Daisy Public School through the 4th grade and still, with all her hard work and determination, she had a full career working for the University of California in Santa Cruz, California, until she retired. Erma Lee was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her son, Chuck Moody of Kirby; two daughters and one son-in-law, Beverly and Bernard Edmundson of Soquel, California and Letha Thevenin of Grass Valley, California; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Vearl and Martha Funderburk of Delight; one sister, Mazzie Brewer of Daisy; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 27, 2016, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood. Visitation will be held Saturday, 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, prior to the services. Interment will be in the Mount Joy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Thevenin, Chuck Moody, Scott Moody, Ricky Brewer, Nicky Funderburk and Allen Clark. Honorary pallbearer will be Shannon Smelser.
