Ernest G. Ybarbo

Ernest G. Ybarbo passed away on September 25, 2026. He was born on September 5, 1930, in Karnes City, Texas.

Ernest lived a long life marked by service, hard work, and devotion to his family. He served in the United States Air Force for 22 years, including service during both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at the San Antonio Methodist Hospital in the Engineer Room for more than 20 years. He later joined the San Antonio Bexar County Sheriff Department, where he worked for many years before finally settling into retirement.

He will be remembered with love by his family and all who knew him. Ernest is survived by his daughters, Priscilla Guajardo and Donna Ybarbo-Lee, and by his sons, John Ybarbo and Ernest Ybarbo, Jr. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jordan Schenosky, Codi McCowan, David Soto, Jr., Issak Soto, and Skye Soto. At his side in life was Celia Luna, his life-long partner, whose companionship was an important part of his journey.

Ernest was preceded in death by his daughter, Lory Miller; his father, Fred Ybarbo; his mother, Tomasa Gonzales Ybarbo; his brother, Fred Ybarbo; and his sister, Alice Davila.

A graveside service with full Military Honors will be held on October 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W Maryland Ave, North Little Rock, AR 72120.

Ernest G. Ybarbo’s life was one of dedication, perseverance, and enduring family love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
