Ethelyn Hester Rinehart McKinney, 87, passed away February 1, 2017 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born in Florence, Alabama to the late Luther Wesley Hester and Carrie Mae Posey Hester on March 9, 1929.
Ethelyn was a 1947 graduate of Little Rock (Central) High School and retired from the Pulaski County Cooperative Extension Service after 20 years, having served as the secretary for the Master Gardener Program. She was a long-time member of the 6th and Izard and Geyer Springs Churches of Christ. She was an excellent homemaker and gifted in music and cooking. Ethelyn loved to write poems and was a BIG FAN of the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Preceding her in death were her first husband, John Franklin Rinehart and second husband, John William McKinney. Remaining to cherish her memory are her sons, David (Nancy) Rinehart of Little Rock, Timothy (Teresa) Rinehart of Bryant, AR, and Tony Rinehart of Little Rock; five grandchildren: Jason Rinehart, Aubrey (Brandon) Futch, Rachael (Chris) Mizell, Jonathan (Karen) Rinehart, and Leah Rinehart; three great-grandchildren: Rylin and Tynlee Futch and Zane Mizell; her sister Geraldine Maddox of Colorado Springs, CO and a number of other friends and relatives.
The family wishes to deeply thank the staff of Madison Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center and Arkansas Hospice for their excellent care and attention.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, February 3, from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Court (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). The funeral service will be Saturday, February 4 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial at Pinecrest Cemetery in Alexander.
