Etna J. Wright West, age 77, of Glenwood, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018. She was born on September 2, 1940, in Glenwood, the daughter of Myrkle Wright and Gladys Black Wright. On September 3, 1957, she was married to the love of her life, Jimmie West. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Elice Lopez. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. In her earlier years she worked as a beautician, and later worked for several years as a secretary for the Pulaski County Special School District until her retirement. Etna was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Jimmie West of Glenwood; one daughter, Diane West of Glenwood; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Donnie and Joyce West of Norman, James West and Kevin West, both of Glenwood and Billy West of Mount Ida; her granddaughter, Shonda West of Hot Springs; three great-grandchildren, Kayson West, Dalton Barrett and Colton Barrett; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Clarice and Ray Connell of Glenwood and Linda and Bobby Driggers of Royal; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Brenda Wright, Ernie and Linda Wright and Jimmy and Carole Wright, all of Glenwood; Josh Duncan, of Glenwood, who she helped raise as her own son; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful and loving friends. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 22, 2018, in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Shewbart and Bro. Curtis Abernathy officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the church. Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Josh Duncan, Walt Connell, Stephen Wright, Shawn Wright, Paul Baker, Eddie Herring and Kevin Stevens. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Matthew Hulsey and the nurses and staff of Glenwood Family Medicine and Dubby Lopez. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Etna to the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 315, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
