Eugene Carpenter, born on August 24, 1954, in Bastrop, Louisiana, passed away on November 18, 2025, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He leaves behind a legacy characterized by his dedication and hard work as an offshore marine for a supply ship, where he spent many years contributing to his field.
Eugene was a beloved fiancé to Dewanna Lingefelt and a father to his daughters, Tanya Carpenter, Holley Carpenter, and Roxane Tullos; bonus daughters, Felchia Sebren (Richard), Chasidy Harris (Jessie), and Arish Lucas (Lance); and bonus son, Shane Lingefelt (Melissa). His family was his greatest treasure, and he cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren: Blair McLeod, Tiffani Williamson, Dakotah Carpenter, Hanah Chayene Jones, Ryder McLeod Reynolds, Levi Aaron, and Mayla Williamson. He also has a host of fourteen bonus grandchildren and thirty-six bonus great grandchildren, along with an array of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.
He is survived by two sisters, Doris Brown and Joy Shockley, who will remember him fondly. Eugene was preceded in death by a wife, Cheryl Carpenter, his brothers Claude Carpenter and Louie Carpenter, his sister Verna Reppond, and his parents, Elmer and Hazel Carpenter. He also mourned the loss of his grandson, Lance K. Whitehead Jr.
Eugene's life encompassed a spirit of resilience and an unwavering commitment to his family and work. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
