Evelyn Jean (Duggar) Long, age 83, of Salisbury, Maryland, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on March 1, 2024. Evelyn was born on October 31, 1940 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the daughter of James Alfred and Velma Lee Duggar. Evelyn graduated from Draughon’s Business College in Tulsa, Oklahoma and married Frank Daniel “Dan” Long, Sr. on July 14, 1963. Devoted Christian, bookkeeper, secretary, solver of financial puzzles, furniture rearranger, technologically savvy, classy dresser, amateur sleuth, often unraveling mysteries alongside Jessica Fletcher on her favorite TV show, Murder, She Wrote, Evelyn was fun to be with, deeply loved, and an inspiration to her friends and family. Her greatest joy was raising her four children while playing a key role in many of Dan’s entrepreneurial whims, and was known for her hospitality, humor, caregiving, crescent rolls, and her strikingly beautiful green eyes. Evelyn is described by her children as “the grounding force of our family,” and it was evident to all that family was always important to her. Along with her beloved cousins, Evelyn was instrumental in revitalizing the Duggar Family Reunion and despite being separated by distance, she kept in close touch with her grandchildren by sending creative holiday-themed gifts, elaborate handmade birthday cards, and even her special chocolate chip cookies!
Evelyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, her daughter, Terri DeClerck, her brother and sister-in-law J.L. & Mary Duggar, and three of her brothers-in-law.
Evelyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Danny & Shala Long, her daughters and sons-in-law Cheryl & Randy Mitchell and Dana & Scott Wilcox, her son-in-law John DeClerck, as well as 15 grandchildren: Spencer, Kyle, Mackenzee, Alyssa, Maranda, Allie, Christopher, Alex, Savannah, Elizabeth, Ryan, Haylee, Anderson, Howard, and Lillian, along with 7 great-grandchildren: Molly, Jude, Kellam, Adelaide, Ellie, Wyatt, and Camden.
She is also survived by her beloved brother Mike Duggar (Bonnie), her sister and lifelong best friend Barbara Hendrix, her sisters-in-law Katie Long and Mary Jones, her sister-in-law Ann Henderson (Jack), her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful and loving friends.
