Evelyn JoAnn Welch

Evelyn JoAnn Welch, age 82, of Glenwood, AR. Surrounded by her family singing hymns, she went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 7, 2026. 

She was born on November 1, 1943, in Wenatchee, Washington. JoAnn was the daughter of Cohen Davis and Sevella Maria Pate Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her five brothers, Roger Davis, Wayne Davis, David Davis, Randy Davis, Nebo Davis, and one baby sister.

On June 6, 1966, she married the love of her life, Don Duane Welch; together they enjoyed farming and growing chickens for many years. JoAnn loved her roses and enjoyed spending time with her family.

 She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Don Welch, and son and daughter-in-law Tracy and Janna Welch of Eagletown, Oklahoma; Four grandchildren: Devin and Sherra Welch of Dequeen; ShayAnn Welch of Eagletown, Oklahoma; April and Joe Winton of Horatio; Tamra and Billy Nowell of Eagletown, Oklahoma; twelve great-grandchildren: Isaac Nowell, Kenneth Nowell, Grace Nowell, Troy Don Nowell, Willow Rose Nowell, Maverick Nowell, and Shiloh Nowell of Eagletown, Oklahoma, Ashley Winton, Samantha Winton, Hannah Winton and Summer Rayne Winton of Horatio, three Brothers; Ronnie(Carlene)Davis of Dequeen, J.D.(JoAnn)Davis of Eunice, New Mexico, C.J.(Judy)Davis of Umpire, four sisters Gloria (Tony)White of Ennis Texas, Brenda(Danny)McGrew of Glenwood, Lonetta(Harmon)Counts of Oden and Otessa(Jimmy)Little of Umpire.

Evelyn Jo Ann was the oldest girl in a family of fourteen children. Growing up, she learned at an early age to help care for her siblings. She loved them dearly and took her responsibility of caring for them seriously. Life taught her to be strong, to work hard, and to care for others.

 As a young girl, Evelyn would go with other young girls into the woods on Sunday afternoons for prayer. It was during one of these times of prayer that she received the Holy Ghost. Her faith became an important part of her life and would continue to guide her throughout the years.

Donald asked her to marry him, and she agreed, telling him that she would marry him if he promised to take her to church. They were married, and for the next 60 years, he continued to keep that promise.

Together, they established their home in Glenwood. Evelyn worked at the glove factory for many years and also cleaned the bank for many years. There were many people in Glenwood who depended on her to help keep their homes clean. She was a hardworking woman who took pride in helping others.

Evelyn and Donald built their dream on a beautiful farm where they raised chickens, pigs, and cows. She loved farm life and enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and taking care of the things around her home. She found joy in the simple things of life and in working with her hands.

She also attended Trinity Holiness Church in Glenwood, where she thoroughly enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Her love for the Lord and for His people was evident in the way she lived her life and served others.

Evelyn JoAnn’s life was a testimony of faith, hard work, family, and keeping her promises to God and to those she loved. She spent her life caring for others, working with her hands, serving the Lord, and building a home and family that meant everything to her.

Her life story is one of a woman who learned early to care for others, found the Lord as a young girl, and continued faithfully through the many seasons of her life.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Glenwood First Baptist Church, with Bro. Gary Blakenship, Bro Sam Anderson, Bro. Tracy Welch, and Bro. Jeremy Self officiating.

Interment will be held at Mount Tabor Cemetery.
