He went to work for GTE before enlisting in the Air Force for four years, as an aircraft electrician. After deploying to Thailand, his last duty station was in Wichita, Kansas. He moved to DeWitt, Arkansas in 1973 when GTE restored his job after he got out of the service. He entered as a manager, and begin his climb in the telephony industry with many promotions. He and his family returned to Arkansas to be with family and friends in retirement. Farrell always found time and places to hunt as well as officiating football and basketball everywhere he lived. He loved watching all sports but the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Dallas Cowboys were his favorites. Farrell made friends wherever he was and he cherished those friends and stayed in contact with them throughout the years.

Farrell was raised in the Assembly Of God church and was on the praise and worship team at Crystal Hill Assembly Of God. Oh how he loved to sing and oh, how everyone love to hear him sing. He sang at four different nursing homes. Because of bad knees he could not officiate anymore so he became and an usher at Dickey Stephens Park in baseball season and at UALR for basketball season where he made many friends.

Farrell met the love of his life Sandra Jane (Putt) Marshall and for 52 years, they loved life together. They had two children, Joshua Farrell and Tiffany Nicole Marshall. Farrell is survived by his wife Sandie, his children, Joshua, and Tiffany and his sister Linda (Gene) McGrath of Sherwood, Arkansas as well as many beloved, nieces, nephews and their children.
