Felton Ray Vandever, age 77, of Springdale, died Sunday, September 9, 2012, at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville. He was born on March 15, 1935, at Genoa, the son of Isaac Denver Vandever and Bessie Sarah Virginia Hensley Vandever. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Irvin Vandever, Pete Vandever and Burrell Vandever. A U.S. Army veteran, having served in Korea, Felton was employed for several years as a long haul truck driver. He was a member of the Old Missouri Baptist Church in Springdale. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margaret A. Vandever of Springdale; four sons and their spouses, Ray Vandever of Ashdown, Tony and Amanda Vandever of Kirby, David and Della Dodson of Springdale, with whom Paw and Nana made their home with the last twelve years, and Danny and Lisa Dodson of Benton; one daughter and her spouse, Debbi and Jim Hicks of Glenwood; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Hunter Vandever and Nicholas Vandever, both of Kirby, Caleb Hicks of Denver, Colorado, Hunter and Char Dodson of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Tarsy and Travis Beyer and Tina and John Bell, all of Springdale, Shelby and Nathan Hicks-Black of Fort Smith, Destiney Dodson and Kaylee Dodson, both of Benton; nine great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Brooke, Megan, Savanna, Skyler, Annabelle, Colton, Canaan and Denton; one sister, Vicki Either of Sacramento, California; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 15, 2012, in the Old Missouri Baptist Church in Springdale with Bro. David Dodson officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Hunter Dodson, Travis Beyer, John Bell, Jim Hicks, Caleb Hicks and Nathan Black. Memorials may be made to the Old Missouri Baptist Church, 2950 S. Old Missouri Road, Springdale, Arkansas, 72764. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
