Florence Johnson

Florence Irene Johnson, the third child born to the late Arthur and Hattie Estella Johnson, passed away November 8, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, sister, son, Bobby Anderson, and two daughters:  Gwendolyn Estella Johnson and Jacqueline Newell.

Florence accepted God as her Savior at an early age.  She became a member of Little Rock Pilgrim Valley Baptist Church in 1946.

She moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1955.  She returned to Little Rock in 1969 to be closer to sister.  She enjoyed helping people and sought a career that reflected her need to help others.  She was employed at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences for 29 years, then retired in December 1999.

Shortly after retirement she became an active member and volunteer of the Patrick Hayes Senior Center in North Little Rock.  She was a cheerful greeter and attendant.

Florence was a member of Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene from 2010 until present.  Although she moved to Texas in 2017, she never moved her membership from the church she loved.  She shared her time and love of service for God by working in the church kitchen, preparing meals to serve all who came with a need.

She leaves to cherish her memory her eldest daughter, Lillian Augustus and her husband Fred.  Her grandchildren:  Tonya Harris of Chicago, Illinois, Aisha Anderson of Little Rock, Arkansas, Ronald Williams and Henry Thomas, North Little Rock, Arkansas and granddaughter, Melody Irby, Lancaster, Texas.  Great grandchildren: Cheyenne, Kaylan, Blake, Camille, Mason, Amare and Aayana.  She also leaves a host of nieces, cousins and friends.
