Floyd Pate, Jr., age 68, of Glenwood, died Monday, January 20, 2014. He was born on January 3, 1946, in Glenwood, the son of Floyd Dewey Pate and Charlene Cogburn Pate. He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Jonathon Hale and Shawn Pate. He was a retired truck driver and Christian in his faith. He is survived by his soul mate, Judy Taylor of Glenwood; three children and their spouses, Lisa and Robert Barrett of Amity, Loletia and Randy Rather of Murfreesboro and Clifton Pate of Amity; two stepchildren, Tamra Dempsey of Gurdon and Kevin Ray and his wife, Lena, of Glenwood; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Pate of Kirby; four sisters, Sherron Pounds of Batesville, Rosanne Wallace of Magnolia, Sheila Reid of Kirby and Tammy Smith of Newhope; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 24, 2014, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Tony Hill officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Newhope. Pallbearers will be Cliffton Pate, Jacob Rather, Daniel Jones, Billy Pate, Jarrod Reid and Justin Rather. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
