Fran Swayze Lanehart, formerly of Ferriday, Louisiana, was born on September 9, 1945 and passed away on August 12, 2017 at her residence in Little Rock. She was a graduate of Ferriday High School - Class of 1963, and was a proud Ferriday Bulldog Alum. She was employed for over 30 years with the Little Rock School District as a librarian. Her passion in life was to help children receive books. She often helped at school book fairs by supplementing the cost to ensure that no children were left out. Fran stayed busy in retirement by joining a Zumba class where she made many new friends and she took pride in the fact that she was able to crochet blankets for everyone in her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Ruby Swayze; and her birth mother, Era Drane Jones. Survivors include her two sons, Ty Lanehart and wife, Karen, and Richard Lance Lanehart; one grandson, Jonathan Lanehart; and a dear close friend of the family, Norma Harris, all of Little Rock.
Funeral Services were held in Ferriday on August 16, with burial at Natchez City Cemetery. There will be a memorial service for Fran on Sunday, August 27 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, 4823 Woodlawn Dr., (501)664-3600. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Brad Baltz and Billy Rucker.
