Francena Fetterly

Francena Elizabeth Fetterly passed away on August 16, 2016 at the age of 97. Born June 30, 1919 to Clifford M. and Bertha Leora Hall Newell, Betty grew up in Greenville, Pennsylvania where she graduated from Greenville High School and attended Thiel College. She met her future husband, Donald J. W. Fetterly, at a college basketball game and they were married for 59 years. Her husband made his career in the USAF as a fighter pilot so there were frequent moves and lots of travel including two fascinating years living in Morocco.
They retired in New Port Richey, Florida where Francena lived until shortly after the death of her husband when she moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas to be near her daughter and grandson.
Francena was a member of North Little Rock First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Ambassador Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker, avid golfer and bridge player. She also enjoyed shopping, watching sports, crossword puzzles and spending time with family.
Francena is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two older sisters, Alice Newell Bennett and Dorothy Newell Vance and one brother, Gerald Newell, and sister-in-law, Ruth Fetterly Lassinger.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth "Mary Beth" Clark, grandson, L. Lamar Clark, IV (Chip) and his wife Cristen Garrett Clark and beloved nieces and nephews and her cat Chloe.
Francena's family would like to especially thank Joan Keaton for the loving care and companionship.
