Fred David Hawthorn, age 69, of Hot Springs, AR passed from this life on 11/18/24. Fred was born to Jerry Glenn Hawthorn and Susie “Bea” (Taylor) Hawthorn in Malvern AR. 

 Fred is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Cecelia (Partain) Hawthorn; two sons: Kyle Hawthorn (Tasha) of Hot Springs and Drew Hawthorn (Hannah) of Springdale; four grandchildren: Lacie Smith (Alex) of Hot Springs, and Liam, Noah and Adeline Hawthorn of Springdale. He is survived by two brothers: Jerry Hawthorn (Diana) of Lonsdale, and George Hawthorn (Earline) of Arkadelphia; and two sisters: Margie Golden (Bill Jackson) of Hot Springs, and Pat Ramsey of Conway, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Howard Hawthorn, and three sisters, Velma Sanders, Martha Rodgers, and Lois Baker.

 He started his law-enforcement career at the age of 21 in Pulaski County then served with the Hot Springs Police Department and retired from Garland County Sheriff’s Office. He was also Captain of the Garland County Mounted Patrol and a member of the Garland County Search and Rescue Team. After retirement he was employed part-time by Walden Security and served as a special deputy U.S. Marshall.

 He grew up working in the family business, Glenn Hawthorn Meat Packing Company and in his spare time he loved all things horses. During his later years he enjoyed leather working. He was a long-time member of the Aldridge Road Church of Christ and dearly loved his church family. The memorial/ celebration of life service will be held Saturday, 11/23, at the Garland County Fairgrounds in the main arena, 4831 Malvern Ave. Visitation will be from 10:00-10:45 am with service immediately following. In lieu of flowers the family wishes to keep Fred’s love for horses growing through a local riding center, Sunshine Therapeutic Riding Center in Royal, AR. Donations can be made at Sunshine Therapeutic Riding Center
