Freeda Pierce, 81, of Jacksonville went to be with the Lord Sunday, July 8, 2012. She worked as a supervisor for the Water Department office for the city of Jacksonville for 31½ years before retiring. She was born June 7, 1931 in England, Arkansas to the late Fred (FH) and Eddie Fulmer Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford Pierce (retired serviceman), son, DeWayne Pierce, brother, Dennis Smith, brother-in-law, Earl Martin and sister-in-law, Jolene Smith. She is survived by her son, Greg (Portia) Pierce, of Jacksonville; daughter, Sandy (Jim) Parks, of Cabot; brother, Gene (Nelva) Smith of Sherwood; Jerrell (Mary Lou) Smith of Ft. Smith; sister, Eldora Martin, of Cabot; sister-in-law, Linda Smith, of Cabot; grandchildren, Brandi (Stacie) Staton, Tyler Pierce, Tiffany Yarbrough, Shannon (Matt) Braslavsky; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Hayden and Alexis; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special THANK YOU to Marie Hatfield for caring for Mom while they worked and a special thanks to St. Vincent Longevity Center and the staff at North Metro Hospital (Jacksonville).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Dr., Little Rock, Arkansas 72205.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday in the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nrlfh.com.
