Dr. Garry Lynn Jones, MD age 83, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on June 3, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, dedicated physician, and a faithful man of the Lord.
Garry was born on June 24, 1942, in Jackson, Tennessee, to Wilma and L.B. Jones. He spent his childhood in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and cherished his summers spent on his grandparents' farm in Tennessee. A dedicated student, Garry graduated at the top of his class from Pine Bluff High School in 1960. As the first member of his family to attend college, he went on to Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1964.
Following graduation, Garry was accepted into the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and simultaneously commissioned into the United States Navy. He earned his medical degree in the spring of 1968 and completed his internship at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. On Thanksgiving night in 1968, Garry married the love of his life, Donna Lynn Troillett, at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church in Little Rock. Together, they shared 58 years of deep devotion and love.
Garry continued his military service and medical training at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California, specializing in Anesthesia. In 1972, his exceptional skill earned him fellowships under obstetric anesthesia pioneers Dr. Sol Shnider at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF), and Dr. Richard Clark at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Through their mentorship, Garry developed a lifelong passion for maternal and fetal anesthesia.
He served as a Board-certified staff Anesthesiologist at Balboa Naval Hospital until 1975, when he returned to Arkansas to enter private practice at Doctors Hospital. There, he became a founding member of Capital Anesthesia. In 1998, he transitioned his practice to St. Vincent Infirmary, where he spent the remainder of his career. Garry was honored in 2011 with the prestigious John G. Tedford Physician of the Year Award, recognizing his appreciation and respect for nurses and the nursing profession. He retired after more than 40 years of profound impact on the Arkansas medical community.
In 1980, he co-founded Hillcrest Interiors, a business he took great pride in supporting.
Garry will be remembered most for his unwavering devotion to his family, his gentle service to his patients, and his profound, lifelong faith in God. He walked through life with the heart of a servant, leaving a legacy of love and healing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilma and L.B. Jones.
Garry is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his three daughters, Robyn, Kelly, and Ellen; his four cherished grandchildren, Kara Daniel, Jackson and Adam and his brother W.Neil Jones and wife Pam.
A graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock on June 10th at 11 am. Services are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Catherine’s House or Mount Saint Mary Academy.
