Gary Fleming, 69, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away on September 8, 2025. Born September 4, 1956, in Benton, Gary spent his life in the community he loved. He worked for many years as an electronics technician, a job that suited his sharp mind and lifelong interest in technology.
Gary had many talents, but music was always close to his heart. He loved playing the harmonica and often filled gatherings with its cheerful sound. He was happiest outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or tending to his garden. Those simple joys gave him peace and created lasting memories with family and friends.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Gary’s time in service reflected his strong sense of duty and love of country. That same spirit of care carried over into every part of his life. Though he never had children of his own, Gary was like a dad to many. He had a way of looking out for others, opening his heart, and making people feel like family.
He is survived by his sisters, Janet Fooks (and husband Boyd) and Susan Brown (and husband Ronnie); nieces Nicole Seitz, Chanta Southworth, Haley Southworth, Kathryn Balding (and husband Jesse), and Jessica Pritchard; nephews Clark Farmer, Cody Ragan, Trent Ragan, Ryan Ragan, and Clifton Ragan; great-nephews Cylus Southworth, Daelynn Southworth, Waylon Tidwell, and Westyn Ivy; sister-in-law Linda Fleming; and his lifelong best friend, Allen Ragan. Gary also leaves behind many extended family members and close friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John George Sr. and Marian (Chapman) Fleming; brother, John George Fleming Jr.; sister, Leslie Farmer; nephews Jerry Dobbins, Paul Farmer, and Ernie Jackson; and two of his closest friends, Ray Pruitt and Mark Southworth.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home in Benton, Arkansas. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate Gary’s life.
