Gene Shirley

Gene Shirley, age 65, of Nashville passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

He was born on December 26, 1960, in Murfreesboro. Gene was the son of Gene Shirley and Della Sue Echols. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his two brothers, Bill Warnick and Robert Boyd Warnick.

Gene worked as a truck driver for 47 years. After driving he worked as a logger and continued working as a farmer in his later years. He loved hunting and fishing. Most of all, Gene loved being with his family. Gene was a loving dad, pepaw, brother, uncle, and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Curtis Morris of Nashville; his stepdaughter, April Haney; his stepson, Kenneth Haney; his five grandchildren, Taylor Murphy, Dylan Pearson, Abbygale Morris, Addalynn Morris, and Allybeth Morris; his step-grandson, Andrew (Mandy) Hanney; his two brothers and sister-in-law., Ronald and Kaye Warnick and Wayne Shirley; his five sisters, Debbie Suggs, Melissa Cornelison, Tammy Jean, Janet Compton, and Lyn Shirley; his ex-wife, Donna Shirley; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.
