George Jefferson Bryan, 82, of Marcella, AR passed from this life on Thursday, June 9, 2016 in Little Rock, AR. He was born November 28, 1933 in Guilford County, NC to George R. and Daisy C. (Stephens) Bryan. He was preceded in death by both parents, and a brother, Jack Bryan.
He was a graduate of Allen Jay High School in High Point, NC and Lincoln Electric Welding School in Cleveland, OH. He was a proud veteran having joined the United States Army and served in the Infantry, Airborne Infantry, and a member of the Honor Guard. He also served in Korea.
George worked as a skilled welder, pipe fitter, electrician, mechanic, and once taught welding at Thomas Jefferson High School in Tampa, FL. He and his wife, Helen Y. Bryan, moved to Marcella upon retirement 18 years ago. In retirement, George pursued his passion for music, playing the guitar, singing, and song writing. He frequently preformed at the Jimmy Driftwood Barn in Mountain View, AR and various other venues in the area.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Helen Y. Bryan of the home; five children, Douglas Bryan (wife Jan) of Lexington, NC; Karen Goodwin (husband Christopher) of Charlotte, NC; Lorrie Brown (husband Robert) of Gaithersburg, MD; Crystal Rapp (husband Perry) of Lexington Park, MD; Robin Canary (husband Donald) of Richmond, VA; 3 stepchildren, Darrell Speakes (wife Judy) of Jonesboro, AR; Joe McAuliffe, Jr. of Smithville, AR; Beverly Speakes of Memphis, TN; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
