Chip Tolleson

Listen to Obituary

George (Chip) Roland Tolleson, Jr., 69, of Maumelle, Arkansas, left this earth to meet the LORD, his Savior on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Chip Tolleson was a man of great faith in Jesus Christ, an ordained minister, brother, and friend to everyone he met.

Chip was born August 29, 1957 in Charlotte, North Carolina, to his late parents, Elizabeth Lynch Tolleson and George Roland Tolleson. Chip was the first of four brothers, he graduated from Lower Richland High School in Hopkins, South Carolina, earned a bachelors degree from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where he met and then married his wife of over 40 years, Margaret Rice Tolleson.

Chip began his career working for Lowes of Greenville and became an assistant manager. He retired from Lowes for medical reasons and later answered the call into ministry and earned a masters in divinity from Gordon Conwell Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina. He served as interim pastor of Beulah Presbyterian Church in Monroe, North Carolina and Northwood Presbyterian Church of Clearwater, Florida. Chip believed that his specific call was to love and to serve those in greatest need, the homeless and those trapped by addictions.

After retiring from the ministry, Chip moved to Maumelle, Arkansas to be closer to family members. He was an active member of Cedar Heights Baptist Church, North Little Rock and he was particularly active in the Forever Free Recovery Ministry of First Assembly of North Little Rock.

Chip truly loved all animals, having had many pets throughout his life, and he especially loved his current Maltese dog, Toby, who loved to ride in the front basket of Chip's mobility scooter. Chip Tolleson left a legacy of serving everyone with the love of Christ; Chip pursued those who felt alone, rejected, or unloved with a message of hope in the only One who saves.

Chip was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Lynch Tolleson and George Roland Tolleson, Sr. and his nephew, Robert A. Tolleson.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Tolleson, his maternal aunt, Lassie Harrell, three brothers, William H. Tolleson (Claudia), Andrew R. Tolleson, and John Michael Lynch Tolleson (Jennifer), his nephews Christopher Tolleson (Aimee) and Spencer Tolleson, and nieces Elizabeth Glisson, Meredith, and Paige Tolleson, and by numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews and friends in many states and at Cedar Heights Baptist Church, Forever Free, and Audubon Pointe Apartments.

A celebration of Chip's life will be held at Cedar Heights Baptist Church, 1451O Cedar Heights Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118, on November 5, 2026 at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St North Little Rock, AR 72114 from 5:00PM-7:00PM on November, 14, 2026, the evening prior to the service.
