Gerald McDonald "Sonny" Huxtable, beloved member of the community and a cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on November 13, 1937, and passed away at the age of 86, on February 8, 2024, in Hot Springs, AR.
He is joining his loving wife Wilma Faye Huxtable in heaven that passed away on the same day. He will be greeted in heaven holding hands with his wife by his parents, Boyton Anthony Huxtable, and Nina Margaret Worthen; three sisters, Joyce Lee (John) Taylor, Delores May (Ray) Smiley, and Mary Ruth Smith.
Sonny had a diverse career as a Journeyman Electrician, he was an apprentice for Dub Heller for many years. He had many hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He was an excellent gardener and took delight in nurturing vibrant vegetables and sharing his harvest with friends and family. Sonny also had a fondness for western movies and enjoyed spending time watching them with his wife. Sonny's life was not only marked by his work and hobbies but also by his service to his country. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for two years before transitioning to the U.S. Air Force for four years.
Family meant everything to Sonny, and he was a loving father to his two sons, Steven Earl Huxtable, and Jerry Don Huxtable, along with four grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Nina Jean Broughton and Laura Gail Uriegas as well as his brother-in-law, Everett "Pa" Smith.
Visitation Services will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 1:00 pm with a 2:00 pm service in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs. Interment to follow at Crestview cemetery.
