Gerald A. Simpson, 89 of North Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Baptist Health-North Little Rock. He was born on July 31, 1923 in Paragould, Arkansas; and was the son of Charles and Delia Ann Simpson.
He was a retired carman for the Union Pacific (formerly Missouri Pacific) Railroad and a United States Navy Veteran of WWII, having been stationed in the Pacific on the U.S.S. Manila Bay Ship. Gerald, lovingly referred to as "Simp" by those he was close to, will be remembered as being a friend to all, as well as an avid golfer, who loved hunting, fishing, and gardening and was a proud member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen Lodge 6114.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.
Survivors include his sister Nona Simpson of West Memphis, Arkansas, a host of nieces and nephews, and close friends Bill and Barbara Henson of North Little Rock; Jack and Sandra Tate of LaGrange, Georgia and Patrick Tate of LaGrange, Georgia.
Graveside Services will be held at Noon, Friday, October 12, 2012 at Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery in North Little Rock.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Huson Funeral Home in Sherwood.
