Gerald Taylor, age 80, of Amity, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

He was born on July 11, 1944, in Clark County. He was the son of Milburn Taylor and Vernell Daniels Taylor. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris Taylor; his daughter, Dorlisa Varner; and son, Chad Taylor.

Gerald married the love of his life, Doris Taylor, on January 12, 1961. They were married for 63 years.

He was a great dad, grandpaw, and great-grandpaw. He loved singing gospel music, Camping, and traveling to Colorado and seeing his country. He was a owner-operator of Gerald Taylor Logging for over 40 years before owning his own business. He drove trucks all of his life and worked for many people in his local area. If Gerald wasn't working, you could find him in his shop or mowing his yard. 

Gerald is survived by his two sons, Terry Taylor of Amity and Jerry (Laura) Taylor of Alpine; his son-in-law, Joey Varner of Alpine; his grandchildren, Ella (Brandon) Carpenter, Kim (Clint) Arnold, Marty (Kayla) Varner, Slayton (Ashley) Taylor, Brayden Taylor (Kylee Crump), Dyllan (Bailey) Taylor, Logan (Maddie) Taylor, his 18 great-grandchildren; his two sisters, Barbara (Glen) Scott of Arkadelphia and Judy (James) McGuire of Hot Springs; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends. 

Pallbearers will be Marty Varner, Brandon Carpenter, Clint Arnold, Slayton Taylor, Brayden Taylor, Dyllan Taylor, and Logan Taylor.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the employees of Gerald Taylor Logging and Ledbetter Logging.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home- Glenwood.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood with Bro. John McAnally officiating.

Interment will be held at Jones Cemetery.
