Gheorghe I. Timofti

Gheorghe I. Timofti, born on May 20, 1931, in Romania and later immigrated to the United States where he passed away on July 15, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by dedication, skill, and devotion to his loved ones. 

Gheorghe’s path was guided by an early commitment to learning and craftsmanship. After four years of trade school for fine machinery, he charted a career filled with a remarkable range of talents. Over the years he became esteemed for his expertise in fine machinery. Gheorghe’s professional journey extended to being a ballroom dance instructor in Romania prior to moving to California where he joined the Balboa Park dancers ballroom dancing club in San Diego. He was also a barber, a skilled artisan in fine jewelry repair, and a steadfast presence in the maintenance of production equipment.

He is survived by his sister, Migdonia Mimi Pirv, and her husband, Benjamin Pirv; adopted granddaughter, Miriam Elizabeth Hrib; nieces, Florin Pirv, Camelia Chilom, and Tania Beaman; great nieces, Dianne Chilom-Wheeler, Andrea Chilom, Tatiana Goe, and Andrew Pirv.

Gheorghe now joins his beloved father, Ioan Timofti, and mother, Lidia Orsa, in peaceful rest.

Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Gheorghe I. Timofti are invited to pay their respects at Smith Family Funeral Home – Hot Springs, located at 2205 Airport Road, Hot Springs, AR 71913. Visitation will be held on July 22, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service on July 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Gheorghe’s legacy is one of a life well lived. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.
