Gladys “Carol” Blankenship Mack, age 85, of Elwood, Indiana, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
She was born on January 23, 1941, in Westmoreland, Tennessee. Carol was the daughter of Robert Lesley Blankenship and Hazel Dean Rice. She was preceded in death by her parents; her Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Dale and Mattie Mack; her two brothers, Mark and Larry Blankenship; and her husband, Bill Mack.
The eldest of her 6 siblings, she grew up in Elwood, Indiana. Graduating from Ball State College with a degree in teaching. Despite loving teaching, she only taught for a few years before getting involved with Real Estate and Property Management. She met and married Bill Mack and followed him down to Arkansas, where she was in reality for over 20 years. She moved back to Indiana in 2024 to stay close with her immediate family.
No matter where she lived, Carol was always heavily involved with her community. In Arkansas, she was a member at Newhope Freewill Church of Christ; and in Indiana, the North A Church of Christ. She loved helping with the local Harmony House cooking meals for the community.
Outside of her philanthropic efforts, she loved going out and exploring old and new areas, and shopping either at local shops or rummage with her sister-in-law Tonya. She took pride in her ability to care for her own home, and her independency whilst in her 80s.
Most of all, Carol loved her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, mimsi, sister, aunt, and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Erick Mack; her grandson, Josh Hostetler; her two brothers and sister-in-law, Kevin and Tonya Blankenship and Charlie Blankenship; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.
