Glenda Faye "Granny" Young

Glenda Faye "Granny" Young, age 77, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017. She was born on September 10, 1940, in Newhope, the daughter of Almer Flemens and Leona Greenhaw Flemens. On July 3, 1973, she was married to David B. Young, Jr., who preceded her in death on December 1, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her seven siblings. She was a member of the Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Black Springs, worked for several years at Weyerhaeuser and was a homemaker. She enjoyed going to flea markets, yard sales, and spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by one son, Brian and Kaye Hill of Glenwood; six daughters, Mary and Glen Reed of Dierks, Jessie Fox of Dierks, Debbie Reid of Glenwood, Tina Krantz of Nashville, Beth Nichols and Ronnie Launius, of Dierks and Vicki and Jason Cowart of Langley; thirteen grandchildren, David, Tammy, Eric, Tonya, Lacey, Ashley, Misty, Kelly, Tesla, Luke, Erin, Madi and Breann; eighteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 3, 2017, in the Newhope Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Scott Vaughn and Bro. Scott Kitchens officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Evans, Brian Lynch and David Krantz. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
