Glenn Taylor Pounder

Glenn Taylor Pounder, age 96, born 2/5/1927, died 3/16/2023.  His wife of 70 years, Peggy Toffier Pounder, pre-deceased him in 2018.  He is survived by their three daughters, Diana Pounder, Marsha Pounder Edgman, and Leah Pounder St John.  Other surviving family members include son-in-law, Dennis Greenlee, grandson Taylor Randall, granddaughter Jordan Guthrie Caudell (Wes Caudell) and his three great grandsons, Price, Hayes, and Will. He is predeceased by his sons-in-law, Sam St John and Don Edgman, his grandson, Grant Guthrie, his sister, Virginia Lubbers, and his parents Herbert and Hazel Pounder.

Glenn was a reserved and soft-spoken personality with a dry wit that could catch others off-guard. In his work as a Human Resource Administrator for Orbit Valve Company, he had a reputation for staying quiet in meetings but listening closely to all points of view.  Often he would be the voice that spoke up last, pulling together a point of view that satisfied all at the table to bring a problem to closure.  He was similarly quiet at home, often frustrating his more extroverted wife.  However, they shared common values about education, money management, religion, social and ethical norms, and had strong intellectual compatibility. Both he and his wife supported all three daughters in getting higher education degrees and pursuing their career interests.  He served in the military at the close of World War II where he was stationed in Germany.  He subsequently returned to civilian life and earned an undergraduate degree in Personnel Management from Oklahoma State University.

The funeral service will be held gravesite at the Pinecrest Cemetery on Tuesday, March 21, at 10am. The family expresses deep appreciation to the VA Home Health staff and the Hospice staff for the comfort and care they provided Glenn during the last months of his life.
