Glenna R. Penny, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024. She was born in Greenbrier, Arkansas on December 4, 1930 to W.R. and Helen Victoria (Brown) Johnson. 

She was the cherished granddaughter of Pertillo Farr and Ida Mae (Blythe) Johnson of Greenbrier and Charles A. and Maud Evans (Cook) Brown of Sheridan, Arkansas. She worked 30 years as a Retirement Benefits Manager for the Arkansas Public Employees Retirement System. A “Yellow Dog” Democrat, she proudly served as governess of the State of Arkansas for one day. Glenna’s surviving Penny children include Mark A. (Reva), J. Douglas (Lisa), Guy M., Bruce E. (Maria), Teresa E., and David G. (Laura). She also has a surviving brother Roger Johnson (Teresa). Deceased children include twins Joseph Christopher Penny and Mary Margaret Penny-Pepper, and Frances Pace Grasby. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother to 16 beloved grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Her dear friend of many years is Jackie Parrish.

A passionate, accomplished oil painter, Glenna also enjoyed reading, quilting, gardening and playing piano. She will be laid to rest at Pinecrest Memorial Park in a private family gathering. Reflecting upon her compassion and love for dogs, In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in Glenna’s name to Humane Society of Searcy, AR.
