Glennie “Jo” Marion Thompson, age 89, of North Little Rock, AR went to be with the Lord August 9, 2024. Glennie was born June 7, 1935 in Oconto, WI, the daughter of Eugene and Nellie Champagne of WI. Glennie was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, Betty, Velma, Amy, Boots, Ted and Bunnie along with her first-born son, Curtis.

 

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Clifford Thompson, four daughters, Frances Valibaba (Milton), Lora Rogers (Fred), Avis Lovett (Mike), and Florance Barnes (Barry).

Glennie was affectionately known as Gigi by her 8 grandchildren, Lily, Natalie, Joshua, Samantha, Bradley, Jennifer, Alan, and John Andrew. Gigi’s heart grew bigger when her 6 great grandchildren were born. Glennie’s family extended to her husband’s children, Terry (deceased), Sherry Merchen (Ed) and their two children, Thomas and Haley and 10 grandchildren.

 

After residing in WI, Glennie moved to AR to continuing raising her children. She fulfilled her desire to become a nurse in 1970 and had a long career at Memorial Baptist Hospital where she cared for many people. She retired to Sheridan and later moved back to North Little Rock before her death. She loved to sew and do crafts, often made her children’s clothing when they were young. Glennie was a book lover and had the opportunity to travel in different counties.

 

There will be a celebration of Glennie, Jo, Mom, Gigi’s life on August 18th at the Villas at Northwood Creek, 8910 Northwood Creek Dr, North Little Rock, AR at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers we ask that you send your mother, mother of your children or mother figure flowers.
