Gloria Kay Miller, age 70, passed away on May 27, 2025, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born on March 1, 1955, in Wichita, Kansas, Glo lived a life of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering love for her family and those in need.
To most, she was simply “Glo” — a sister, mother, aunt, teacher, and friend whose generosity and humility left an imprint on everyone she met. But to one very special little girl, she was “Gigi” — the proud, doting grandmother who filled her granddaughter’s life with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.
Glo was a devoted single mother who raised her son with fierce love and steadfast support. She embodied, grace, resilience, and love. She placed her family and her faith in the Lord above all else, living her life as a reflection of biblical service and selflessness. She believed deeply in caring for others — not for recognition, but because it was simply the right thing to do.
A graduate of Lake City High School, Glo went on to earn her master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Teaching was her calling, and she dedicated many years to nurturing young minds with compassion and purpose. When given the choice to seek easier paths or more recognition, she always chose to stay where she felt she was most needed. That was Glo: steadfast, selfless, and guided by a quiet strength that touched countless lives.
Outside the classroom, Glo loved gardening, quilting, crocheting, art, and cooking. She found joy in planting things and watching them grow — whether it was a flower blooming, a meal shared, or a child thriving under her care. She had a tender heart for animals and a particular fondness for her beloved chihuahua, Bruno, along with many other pets over the years.
Her blue eyes sparkled when she spoke of the things she loved: her family, her faith, her granddaughter, her garden. She was modest and kind, often giving without ever needing to be asked — whether it was a handmade blanket, a warm meal, or a quiet donation to a women’s shelter or children’s home. Glo gave freely of herself, always thinking of others before her own needs.
She was one of five sisters and a constant source of support to her family. Many who faced hard times found comfort in her presence and strength in her words. Glo’s impact will be felt for generations, not only in the lives of her loved ones, but in the countless students she nurtured and believed in.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Ruth McCourt Love Thomas and Antone “Bud” Love, and her sisters, Debbie Baker and Melinda Beth Cobb. Glo is survived by her son, David (Stephanie) Miller, and her beloved granddaughter, Audrey Marie Miller, both of Little Rock, AR. She is also survived by her sisters, Christine DeWitt of Danville, AR, and Carolyn Fry of New Boston, TX. Her memory will be cherished by her many nieces and nephews: Robert Fry Jr., Richard Matthew Baker, Stephanie Decker, Jera Beth Cobb, Blake Cobb, Steven DeWitt, Michael DeWitt, and Blaine Fry; as well as a host of great-nieces and great-nephews whom she adored. Glo’s extended family and loved ones will deeply miss her and carry her legacy forward.
Gloria “Glo” Kay Miller lived her life in quiet devotion — to her faith, her family, and her calling to serve. Her legacy is one of love in action, grace in service, and beauty in the everyday moments. She gave the best of herself to everyone she touched — and in doing so, she gave the world something truly rare.
