Betty Kemp

Goldy Elizabeth “Betty” Kemp, 92, passed from this life to her Heavenly home on September 21, 2026. Born August 23, 1934, she was the daughter of Joseph Lee Christian and Pearl McMillan Christian.

Betty was a devoted Christian who cherished her family and was known for her quick wit, ornery sense of humor, and caring heart. She loved being the “person behind the scenes,” which encapsulated her servant’s heart and her testimony as a believer in Christ.

She spent much of her life as a homemaker, cook, and dorm parent at children’s homes in Jonesboro, Booneville, and Tupelo, where she grew especially close to her grandson, Doug.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Whittingham; grandchildren Kara, Kayla, Doug, Joseph, Kristen, Chasity, Venita, Tommy, and Karen; Sister Joann Smith; and numerous other family members, church family, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Larry and Steve; siblings Gerald, Edward, Violet, and Alma; and her parents, Joseph Lee Christian and Pearl McMillana-Christian.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 25, 2026 at 11:00 AM at New Life Ministries (12506 US-165 North Little Rock, AR 72117). Funeral service will follow on Friday, September 25, 2026 at 12:00 PM at New Life Ministries with Rev. Mark Melton officiating.

Betty will be remembered for her faith, humor, and the love she shared with those around her. Her memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
