GW McVay

GW McVay, 88, of Sherwood, passed away September 29, 2017. Born in Stuttgart, Arkansas to Cullen and Essie Blakney McVay, he was a 1950 graduate of Little Rock High School and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Mr. McVay retired as a Correctional Supervisor from the Federal Prison System, and later served as a security guard at Arkansas Children's Hospital. He loved football and playing Santa Claus for many local events.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Candy McVay, brother, Thomas McVay, and sisters, Dorothy Perez and Martha Monrose. He is survived by his daughters, Donna Hagewood and husband, Brian, of Jacksonville, and Corinne Hammond and husband, Sean, of Harrisburg, Arkansas; son, Garry McVay and wife, Shari, of Conway; brother, Larry McVay of Metarie, Louisiana; grandchildren, Lauren, Alyssa, Hunter, Taylor, Walker, Aiden and Blake; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Friday, October 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, North Little Rock, officiated by Ron Shumaker. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital, 1 Children's Way, Little Rock, AR 72202.
