Harold "Boze" Bates, age 90, of Bismarck, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 He was born on June 8, 1927, in Akron, Ohio, the son of William George Bates and Dorothy Lucille Weibel Bates. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Willis Daniel Bates and Ohio C. Bates; and one sister, Evelyn Marjorie Bates. He was a United States Navy Seabee veteran, having served in World War II, and was a member of the Bonnerdale Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was a very dedicated worker with the Maranatha Volunteers International and Disaster Response Teams through his church and the American Red Cross, and his greatest joy in life was traveling and building mission construction projects. He is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, June Bates of Bismarck; his daughter, Mai Lee Gallop of Mansfield, Texas; several extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. The family will hold a memorial service, to celebrate the life of "Boze", at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 12, 2018, in the Bonnerdale Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Brandon Westgate officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy Honors Team. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
