Harold “Pete” Gaston, age 86, of Russellville, formerly of Norman, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021.
He was born on February 14, 1935, in Norman, the son of Hal Gaston and Pearl Burrows Gaston. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mineko Gaston; his son, Harold “Sonny” Gaston, his infant daughter, Catherine Gaston; his parents; and two brothers, Carl Gaston and Lyle Gaston.
Pete retired as a gunnery sergeant from the United States Marine Corps in 1975. After his military career, he worked as a truck driver delivering gas and retired from Ligon Oil. He was a member of the Mount Gilead Baptist Church and enjoyed working in his yard, hunting and being with family.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Gaston of Russellville; four children, Marilyn Gaston of Russellville, Darlene Mullins of Norman, Patty Driggers of Glenwood and Beverly Tolleson of Norman; his step-son, Floyd Smith of Sherman, Texas; his daughter-in-law, Tammie Gaston of Russellville; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Gaston of Houston, Texas and Bob Gaston of Van Buren; his sister, Sue Hurst of Oregon; and his nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Tony Hill officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Gaston Cemetery with military honors by the United States Marine Corp Honor Guard.
