Harry Zoblotsky, 89, passed away peacefully at home in Hot Springs Village, AR on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in the place he most wanted to be. Born February 9, 1936 in Picher, Oklahoma, a once-thriving mining town known for its lead and zinc production, Harry was the son of Isadore and Dena Zoblotsky.
He played on the mountains of chat piles there as a child, recounting the story of how he broke his leg, and later broke his nose as a boxer (from which he lost his sense of smell). A proud southpaw, and always ready with a joke, Harry graduated from Picher High School in 1954 and attended the University of Oklahoma, majoring in Business.
The Zoblotsky family built and operated a retail shoe business, proudly providing footwear to the residents of Picher and beyond. The family enterprise later expanded to include stores in Wichita Falls, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; and New Orleans, Louisiana, where Harry lived for 40 years. After decades in the family business, Harry continued his career in retail, working as a shoe salesman and manager for Maison Blanche, Macy’s, and Dillard’s in New Orleans.
Later in life, he moved to Hot Springs Village, where he retired from Dillard’s and enjoyed the natural beauty of the area, leisurely walks, his dog Petey, and many friends. Harry loved golf, poker, a good cigar on his porch, shooting pool, watching football (particularly the Sooners and the Saints), and reading mystery novels voraciously. But above all, his greatest passion was bridge, a game he played for over 60 years — and the very one that brought him together with his wife, Donna.
Harry was predeceased by a beloved son, Scot Zoblotsky, his sister, Rae Ann Chenet, and stepdaughter Shelly McDuffie.
He is survived by his wife Donna Gold of Hot Springs Village; a son Todd Zoblotsky (Toni) and grandson Alden Zoblotsky of Germantown, TN; and a stepson Django Catalano and step-granddaughter Kori Catalano of Atlanta, GA.
From his marriage to his late wife Rosalind Zoblotsky, he is also survived by three stepdaughters: Lauran Canatella (Mike) of Keller, TX; Melissa Wafer (Thomas) of Baton Rouge, LA; and Jennifer Soule (David) of Albuquerque, NM, and many step-grandchildren.
Graveside services for immediate family members and close friends will be held at Jewish Rest Cemetery in Hot Springs on October 20, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made in Harry’s honor to the Hot Springs Village Animal Welfare League.
