Harvey Ray "H. R." Whisenhunt

Harvey Ray "H. R." Whisenhunt, age 83, of Newhope, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017. He was born on August 20, 1933 in Newhope, the son of Calvin Whisenhunt and Margie Nichols Whisenhunt. On December 26, 1951, he was married to Lillie Davis who had been living in Big Cedar, Oklahoma. Together, they were blessed with eight children. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry "Bug" Whisenhunt; his parents; three brothers, Robert Whisenhunt, Tribble Whisenhunt and James Whisenhunt; his sister-in-law, Jean Whisenhunt; three nieces; 1 nephew; and his dog, Jake. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and Sunday dinners with his family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lillie Whisenhunt of Newhope; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Rosie Whisenhunt and Brad and Allie Whisenhunt, all of Newhope, and Mike and Tonja Whisenhunt of Kirby; four daughters and two sons-in- law, Rita Faye and Jim Neal of Kirby, Janet "Kay Kay" Rainwater and Dina and Jerry Roan, all of Newhope, and Vanessa Lewis of Dierks; his dog, Charlie, of the home; a special daughter, Vickie James of Hope; his sister and brother-in-law, Ethel and Ray Pinkerton of Newhope; his sister-in-law, Lorene Whisenhunt of Newhope; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a host of friends and loved ones; and a special friend, Dub Tucker of Newhope. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 27, 2017, in the Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. David Davis and Bro. Raymond Dees officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Jason Whisenhunt, Daniel Neal, Taylor Moore, Austin Whisenhunt, Joel Davis, John Howell, Charles Whitaker and Russell Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Dub Tucker, Preston Richardson, Jimmy Neal, Jonathan Neal, Benjamin Britt, John McKee, Lane Lewis and Josh Whisenhunt. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
